Since its creation in 1988, the IECD has structured its activity around three areas of intervention: access to education for vulnerable young people and adolescents; vocational training in the sectors of agriculture, hospitality and catering, energy, health, and, more recently, IT; and support for small entrepreneurs in urban and rural areas.
The Societe Generale The Future Is You Foundation supports the deployment of comprehensive agricultural training for young people based on work-study, which enables them to strengthen their technical and human skills and prepares them to manage their farm. The project has five training centres in Côte d'Ivoire and seven in Cameroon. Several objectives for 2022 and beyond have been identified, including the development of complementary approaches to strengthen the attractiveness of the training programme, support for the integration of young people via the Employment Orientation and Integration Offices and the training of job placement supervisors in work-study-based learning.
