The objective of Le Choix de l’école (“Choose school”) is to fight against academic failure by focusing its efforts on the teaching profession. It encourages young graduates from France’s most prestigious schools and young workers with promising career paths to devote two years to teaching in priority education middle schools or vocational high schools. The aim is to promote student success while fostering more lasting commitments to teaching and raising the profile of the teaching profession throughout society.
The Societe Generale Corporate Foundation is supporting Le Choix de l’école to develop its activities in Ile-de-France (in the three academies in Créteil, Versailles and Paris), in order to sustain the association’s work in priority education middle schools and extend them to vocational high schools. This strategy was decided in agreement with the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports, and the Ile-de-France education boards to combat the lack of teachers, which is especially pronounced in this region and a source of increasing educational inequalities.
