Plan International
Plan International takes action at the international level by setting up development programmes and raising awareness among the general public and institutions around education and gender equality issues. The two main areas of focus are:
- access to inclusive, quality education for children;
- access to training and support for the social and economic integration of young people.
The programmes rolled out by the charity take a holistic approach and involve the whole community to ensure their sustainability (families and parents, local institutions, schools, etc.). Plan International France also lobbies to political and institutional decision-makers to ensure that the rights of children, and particularly girls, are always taken into account in international charity policies.
The Societe Generale The Future is You Foundation supports the Championnes programme, whose main goal is to empower girls and support gender equality in Benin, Togo and Guinea. It encourages the transformation of social norms and the questioning of stereotypes through a range of measures:
- The development of youth sport (particularly football), integrating a majority of girls through participation-based and inclusive approaches, and the recruitment and training of sports educators;
- Awareness-raising and training activities to promote female leadership and inclusion through sport;
- Assistance with the development of village savings and loan associations to empower young people financially;
- Community awareness campaigns.
