Fondation Terres d'eau (Terres d’eau Foundation)
Initiated by Voies Navigables de France (VNF) under the auspices of the Fondation du Patrimoine, the Foundation Terres d’Eau is dedicated to protecting water resources, biodiversity, and river heritage. As the first patron of VNF’s waterway reforestation program, the Societe Generale Foundation is backing an ambitious regional initiative to replant trees along canals and strengthen riverbanks.
Three major projects will be supported from the very first year:
- the Canal du Midi,
- the Canal between Champagne and Bourgogne, and
- the Rhône-Rhine Canal.
These efforts aim to preserve ecosystems, restore ecological continuity, and raise public awareness of the environmental and heritage value of these landscapes.
