Innovation: middle school traineeship 100% on-line
In response to the current situation, the French Ministry of Education has decided that Year 10 internships will not be cancelled, but will become optional for the 2020/2021 school year.
Over this period, Societe Generale in partnership with MyFuture, wants to continue its work supporting young people to find jobs through education and contribute to greater equality of opportunity in accessing corporate careers.
Thus, over 300 secondary school students from areas of high educational priority will discover careers in Banking through these remote internships.
The remote internships started on 11 January, in partnership with secondary schools in the Ile de France region and outside the capital (Saint-Ouen-L’Aumône, Mantes la Jolie, Grigny, Mainvilliers, Fontenay-sous-Bois, Argenteuil, Cergy, etc.).
The online internship programme lasts 5 full days. Students use video conferencing to meet employees and to sit in on conferences led by our partner on topics such as different types of career or gender balance in specific job lines. All these subjects will give them a taste of what the world of work is like.
The programme aims to present the work environment in the most attractive light possible and gives students access to a logbook so they can track their progress throughout the week and share their understanding of the topics which have been explored. Discussions and quizzes are planned throughout the week to keep things interesting.
More than 80 Societe Generale employees are mobilized to ensure that these weeks run as smoothly as possible and that it is an opportunity to present young people with a wide variety of professions.
The online internships will take place over six weeks, from 11 January to 8 March
Despite the format we managed to have a real exchange with the students who were able to project themselves in concrete situations of our trade. The association’s upstream accompaniment enabled me to adapt my speech and make it accessible to young people. I was surprised by the spontaneity and fluidity of this discussion
