Ensemble Correspondances

Ensemble Correspondances

From the very beginning, the recordings of Ensemble Correspondances have been praised by the critics. Founded in 2009 by harpsichordist and organist Sébastien Daucé, this ensemble of singers and instrumentalists released its first CD a year later: “O Maria!” This work, dedicated to Marc-Antoine Charpentier, immediately put Ensemble Correspondances in the circle of those specialising in Baroque music.

As a hunter of forgotten scores, Sébastien Daucé takes particular care to propose projects that have been carefully thought out and considered. Between 2011 and 2014, the ensemble released four discs dedicated to Antoine Boesset, Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Etienne Moulinié and Michel-Richard de Lalande, composers who are rarely honoured. Here again, commentators stressed the purity of the musical performance and the fervour of the performers.

In 2015, at the Saintes Festival, after several years of reconstruction work, Sébastien Daucé and his musicians brought back to life the “Concert Royal de la Nuit”, the first great dance party given by the young King Louis XIV. At the end of this mythical night, Louis became known as “the Sun King”... and the recording of Ensemble Correspondances shone with awards: Choc de Classica and a Gramophone Award among others. Inspired by the circus, the staged version of this score was to be performed all over the world. With the same critical and popular success, Ensemble Correspondances’ discography continues to grow, supplemented by books, MOOCs, etc.

We have been partners of Ensemble Correspondances since January 2016.
