Multilatérale

Multilatérale, directed by Yann Robin and Léo Warynski, is one of the most emblematic ensembles of the contemporary‑music repertoire. Its work is defined by multidisciplinarity: the ensemble explores forms as varied as chamber opera — as in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia in 2021 — traditional song, with the 2024 Folk Songs project, or even film‑concerts, notably during a tour in China in 2024. Multilatérale also ventures into entirely new artistic formats, such as Nage no kata, an original production combining music and judo, presented in 2024 at the Maison du Japon.

Over the past decades, Multilatérale has established itself as a key player in French musical creation, performing at international festivals such as the Venice Biennale, the Festival Cervantino in Mexico, and the Festival d’Automne à Paris. The ensemble is also noted for its sustained engagement in Southeast Asia, particularly in Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore.

Alongside its artistic projects, Multilatérale has always placed strong emphasis on transmission. The ensemble has collaborated with numerous composition classes — including those of the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (CNSMDP) and the Conservatoire de Gennevilliers — as well as with composition academies such as Sermoneta, Barga, and Royaumont. From 2021 to 2023, Multilatérale was also associated with the Philharmonie de Paris for the “Tremplin de la création” concert, which highlighted a new generation of European composers.

The Société Générale Corporate Foundation has been supporting Multilatérale since 2020, with a partnership renewed through 2026. This support enables the ensemble to develop innovative projects, such as the creation of the Ensemble(s) Festival, held each autumn at the Théâtre de l’Échangeur, and the ARCO composition academy in Marseille and Salzburg.
