Lecture Jeunesse

Atelier Lecture Jeunesse

For 50 years, Lecture Jeunesse has been promoting reading and writing among teenagers to prevent illiteracy, combat cultural inequalities, and contribute to the education of future citizens.

Few reading‑promotion initiatives specifically target adolescents, even though this is precisely the age at which disengagement often begins. Lecture Jeunesse supports young people’s empowerment so they can become citizens capable of voting, understanding the complex issues of today’s world, finding employment, developing professionally, expressing themselves, and articulating their emotions. Oral expression, reading, writing, and digital literacy are closely interconnected and essential in all aspects of an individual’s life. They are the conditions for empowerment and the foundation of citizenship — which is why Lecture Jeunesse works daily to strengthen them.

Numook, supported by the Société Générale Corporate Foundation, is the association’s flagship project: it involves teenagers in the collective creation of a digital book — including text, sound, and images — over the course of a school year. More than 2,500 young people in mainland France and the overseas territories participate in this program

Numook aims to (re)ignite young people’s interest in words so they develop a taste for reading and writing, regain self‑confidence, and learn to collaborate by taking part in this creative and unifying project.
