Festival d'Aix-en-Provence / Académie

The Société Générale Corporate Foundation supports the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence's Académie in 2025, thereby fostering the training and development of a new generation of artists and helping to make opera an ever more creative, diverse, and inclusive art form.

Founded in 1948, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence established its Academy in 1998 under the guidance of Pierre Boulez. Since then, the Académie has become a true laboratory for 21st-century opera.

Each year, the Académie welcomes young artists from around the world through multidisciplinary residencies (singing, musical creation, conducting, stage direction, dramaturgy…). It promotes the emergence of new works and encourages experimentation, thus contributing to the renewal of the operatic repertoire and anticipating the evolution of the sector.
