Ars Nova
Ars Nova, a historic musical ensemble renowned in France and internationally, has long established itself as a passionate champion of aesthetic pluralism. Its artistic mission is rooted in the promotion and encouragement of musical creation in all its forms, making the ensemble a true space of freedom and innovation.
Over the years, Ars Nova has contributed to the birth of numerous masterpieces of the 20th century. The ensemble notably premiered Olivier Messiaen’s Des Canyons aux Étoiles in 1975, many works by Maurice Ohana, and participated in an international tour of Carmen, adapted by Marius Constant and staged by Peter Brook. This exceptional history reflects Ars Nova’s commitment to supporting the emergence and recognition of major contemporary talents. Composers such as Pascal Dusapin, Betsy Jolas, Régis Campo, among many others, have found in Ars Nova a loyal and dedicated partner — embodying the ensemble’s deeply held principle of artistic companionship.
Alongside its commitment to creation, Ars Nova places particular importance on intergenerational transmission. The ensemble welcomes a new generation of performers who, guided and inspired by their elders, perpetuate its heritage while actively contributing to the evolution and renewal of its artistic project. Through this ongoing dynamic, Ars Nova stands as an essential actor in today’s creative music, combining heritage, innovation, and openness to the world.
Ars Nova is also committed to offering significant visibility to young creators. The ensemble pursues a proactive commissioning policy and regularly provides concrete and active support to projects led by emerging artists.
Since 2024, the Société Générale Corporate Foundation has been supporting the ensemble in its mission to foster the creation, promotion, and dissemination of the music of today and tomorrow.
