La petite soeur

La Petite Sœur (‘little sister’) aims to reinforce the inclusive aspect of society by working to build bridges between 'ordinary' and 'specialised' environments, in the interests of greater knowledge and recognition of the young people supported by medical and social establishments. It develops solutions aimed at:

  • creating jobs for young people in medical and social care facilities to avoid them being released without support (cold release);
  • enabling people from different social worlds to live together;
  • giving the facilities and the people they serve a greater role in their local area.

The Societe Generale The Future is You Foundation supports the Barbey Village, which is based on the creation of a charity hostel run by the Association des Centres d'animation bordelais. It helps young people facing hardship with two things:

  • cohabitating: 10 rooms provide accommodation for young people in at-risk situations, a prerequisite for successful integration into the working world;
  • employment: five young people with cold releases are hired for work experience in cultural, reception and mediation, and restaurant and bar management at the Barbey Village hostel. These young people are supported by sector professionals.
