APSE

The Association Pour le Sourire d’un Enfant (APSE) is based in Thiès, Senegal, and its mission is to protect, educate and reintegrate children, minors and young adults in conflict with the law and/or in detention. The association has designed an educational response structured around the Fencing and Restorative Justice method and offers its beneficiaries four types of activities: :

  • Reception (education and accommodation) on its premises.
  • Literacy and/or schooling.
  • Professional training.
  • Physical and psychological development.

All these activities are complemented by legal aid and improved detention conditions.

The Foundation supports the Yakaar project. The ambition of this project, dedicated to children and young people (girls and boys) in vulnerable situations, is to promote a psycho-educational ecosystem structured around the Fencing and Restorative Justice method. It will help prevent the abuse and exploitation of minors, promote life skills and provide conditions for positive personal development to empower girls and boys. It also focuses on encouraging gender equality and the transformation of gender relations through the practice of sport to promote gender diversity.
