Paysan Urbain is an association that develops educational urban micro-farms around the production of micro-seeds. Located in Le Cloître in Marseille, between three of the city’s priority neighbourhoods, Paysan Urbain develops two activities: the production and distribution of micro-seeds as a means of supporting professional integration for people excluded from the workforce and the setting up and running of vegetable gardens for educational purposes.
The Societe Generale The Future Is You Foundation is supporting the Académie des Mains Vertes project, launched in 2019, in order to motivate young people through agricultural activities and by capitalising on the cross-sector employment and support resources of the professional integration workshop. This project is designed to reflect the location of the association (the Apprentis d'Auteuil site) and to respond to the growing problem of youth integration, particularly in the Marseille area where youth unemployment has reached up to 50% in certain priority neighbourhoods.
