Orchestre Divertimento

Orchestre Divertimento

The credo of Zahia Ziouani, who founded the Divertimento Symphony Orchestra in 1997, is: “music as an instrument for living together”. Located since 2005 in Seine-Saint-Denis, this orchestra of 70 musicians has been built on the values of musical excellence and sharing. Its success is measured both by the broad spread of concerts and by the number of training courses in orchestral music.

The Orchestre Symphonique Divertimento gives concerts to the public, combining the classical repertoire with contemporary music, valuing creation and association with other aesthetics. Musical personalities such as cellist Raphael Pidoux and violinist Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabedian are regularly involved in the orchestra's projects.

The musicians in Divertimento want everyone to have access to symphonic music. Every year, the musicians use their teaching skills to carry out numerous awareness-raising activities for young people (more than 5,000 per year) and the not-so-young: educational concerts, Diverti’ classes, activities in prisons, meetings with professionals. The Divertimento Academy offers orchestral music training courses adapted to all levels. The members of the orchestra are also involved in the musical and educational supervision of the DÉMOS youth orchestra (providing socially-oriented music education).

We have been partners of the Divertimento Orchestra since January 2019.
